Showcasing Daniel Giles' work

Yerecoin

Yerecoin is a small rural town in Western Australia, about 2 hours drive north of Perth. The town consists of not much more than a pub, silo, general store, school and a few houses. The landscape reminds me a great deal of the countryside north-west of Bendigo, with its Mallee shrubs and dry landscape (it reminded me a little bit of Inglewood district and the southern end of the Victorian Mallee).

My aunt owns the local pub, so I truly enjoyed her country pub hospitality. Whilst in Yerecoin, I also visited the nearby monastery town of New Norcia (about 20 kms away).

However, my biggest highlight was taking photos around the town. It was amazing what beauty could be found in the town, especially if you look closely. In fact, I found that my best photos came from Yerecoin and Albany (which I visited later). I hope you agree with me as you enjoy browsing photos of the pub (including the beer garden), various close-up photos, farming scenes and a glorious sunset.

Some spectacular shots here, Dan! Thanks for showing me parts of Australia that I’ve not yet wittnessed, myself. The isolation of the W.A environment certainly lends itself to landscape photography, does it not?! Cheers, and God bless!
