Showcasing Daniel Giles' work

The ‘Mighty Murray’

This photo gallery shows some photos of the Murray River at Echuca, with the water levels being high due to record high rainfall. The scenery of the area is a far cry from 12 months ago, when the water levels were low (due to many years of drought).

I particularly enjoyed taking various photos of the water, along with the red gums and a few abstract photos also. I also witnessed a yabbie being caught and had a unique opportunity to take a close-up photo.

This landscape has a uniquely Australian feel to it and the river (as part of the Murray-Darling Basin) brings life to many Australian communities.

A month after taking these photos, I also took some photos of the Murray River and surrounding floodplains (further downstream) near Swan Hill. Please click here to view.

    Once again, beautiful photos.
I lived on the Murray for 16 years and still miss those beautiful gum trees.

    • It was a great place to visit after years of drought. I’m not used to see the Murray this high.

As always, I love your photos Daniel! I especially liked the ones of the trees in the water.

Yes, I agree with Sue. Eucalypts wading in river flanked with greenery, makes for a very nice photo…
Face to face with a yabbie? Nice….

    • Such a rare opportunity to do this. 12 months ago, you could see the bank of the river and the trees would’ve been well out of the water.
